How to Record a Short Screen Recording of an Issue
A short screen recording shows our team exactly what you are seeing, making it the fastest way to help us identify and fix any issue.
📹 Why Record Your Screen?
When something isn't working, a short screen recording shows our team exactly what you're seeing. It's the single fastest way to help us find and fix the problem.
A 30 to 90 second screen recording tells us more than a page of description. It shows the exact steps that lead to the issue, any error messages, and what your screen actually looks like. Here's how to record one.
🌐 Option 1: Loom (Easy & Free)
Loom is a free browser extension and app that records your screen and gives you a shareable link straight away. No file to upload.
- Go to loom.com and create a free account, or add the Loom Chrome extension.
- Click the Loom icon and choose Screen + Cam (or just Screen).
- Click Start recording.
- Walk through the steps that cause the issue while you talk us through what you expect to happen.
- Click Stop.
- Loom copies a link automatically. Paste that link into your reply to support
🍏 Option 2: On a Mac (Built-in, No Downloads)
- Press Shift + Command + 5.
- Choose Record Entire Screen or Record Selected Portion.
- Click Record.
- Walk through the issue.
- Click the Stop icon in the top menu bar.
- The video saves to your desktop. Attach it to your email or drag it into your support ticket.
🪟 Option 3: On Windows (Built-in, No Downloads)
- Press Windows key + G to open the Game Bar.
- In the Capture widget, click the Record button (or press Windows key + Alt + R).
- Walk through the issue.
- Press Windows key + Alt + R again to stop.
- The video saves under Videos > Captures. Attach it to your reply.
💡 Tips for a Useful Recording
- Keep it short: 30 to 90 seconds is plenty.
- Narrate as you go: Say what you clicked and what you expected.
- Start early: Start from just before the problem so we can see the steps that trigger it.
- Pause on errors: If there's an error message, pause on it so it's clearly visible.
📩 How to Send It to Us
- Loom: Paste the share link into your reply.
- A saved file: Attach it to your email, or drag it into the support chat. If the file is large, upload it to Google Drive or Dropbox and share the link.
🎉 You're All Set!
Once you've captured your screen recording, send it over to our support team and we will get to work resolving your issue as quickly as possible!
