Mobile app: push notifications not working
Learn how to troubleshoot and resolve missing systemHUB mobile push notifications by adjusting in-app preferences, checking device permission menus, and cleanly re-installing the Progressive Web App (PWA).
📱 Understanding PWA Notifications
systemHUB's mobile app is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which is installed by adding the platform website directly to your device's home screen. While mobile push notifications are fully supported, they require explicit operational permissions to be granted on your device during the first install.
If you are not receiving push alerts on your phone, work through this step-by-step checklist to clear the blockage.
🛠️ Step 1: Confirm Push is Enabled in systemHUB
Before inspecting your mobile device settings, ensure the platform backend is authorized to broadcast alerts to your account:
- Open the systemHUB app on your mobile phone.
- Navigate to your Profile and select Notifications.
- Locate the Push notifications setting and ensure the toggle switch is turned On.
🔐 Step 2: Confirm Push is Allowed by Your Phone
Your operating system can block incoming application alerts if your global notification settings are locked down.
For Apple iOS Devices:
- Open your phone's main Settings app and navigate to Notifications -> systemHUB.
- Toggle Allow Notifications to On.
- Set the banner style to Persistent so alerts do not automatically dismiss themselves.
- Ensure Sounds and Badges are both toggled On.
For Android Devices:
- Open your phone's main Settings app and navigate to Apps -> systemHUB -> Notifications.
- Toggle Show notifications to On.
- Ensure all internal notification categories are fully enabled.
🔄 Step 3: Re-install the App
If you originally installed the app when push notifications were not fully supported, or before a major systemHUB platform update, re-installing the app will force your phone to show a fresh, clean permission prompt.
- Delete the existing systemHUB shortcut icon from your phone's home screen.
- Open your mobile web browser (Safari for iOS or Chrome for Android) and go to
systemhub.com. - Open your browser's options menu and select Add to Home Screen or Install app.
- When the fresh system prompt appears on your screen asking for notification rights, tap Allow.
- Open the newly installed app icon and log in to your profile.
🧪 Step 4: Test with a Known Notification
Once your device settings are fully updated, run a live operational test to confirm the data pipeline is clear:
- Have a team member open a system document that you are explicitly assigned to.
- Instruct them to trigger a fresh notification event directed at your user profile.
- Check your mobile device, the alert should land on your lock screen within a few seconds.
If the Push Alert Still Fails to Appear:
- Confirm that your phone has a stable, active internet connection via Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Double-check that Do Not Disturb or custom Focus modes are not actively silencing incoming app notifications.
- Verify whether the corresponding email notification successfully hit your inbox, as this rules out a broader account-side delivery issue.
🔍 Push vs Email Discrepancies
- Push fails but email arrives: If your standard email alerts drop into your inbox cleanly but push notifications remain missing, the breakdown is contained entirely on the local device or PWA configuration side. Completing the fresh re-install process outlined in Step 3 resolves the vast majority of these local issues.
- Neither push nor email arrives: If you are missing both your mobile push notifications and your email alerts simultaneously, the block is rooted in your account settings or network filters. Skip over to our dedicated diagnostic guide on Notification Emails Going to Spam to resolve the issue.
